Giovanni

Afternoon, by Giovanni Lomi (1889-1969)

The artists I’ve known have always started with a clear image in their head, then struggled to make the canvas mirror their imagination.

Giovanni Lomi was self-taught, which makes his paintings even more amazing, but I wish I could ask him:  Did you have the image of the water’s reflection in your mind first, or did you stumble across the technique and think, “I could do something with this?”

Not much information is available on the web, but you can read a little bit about his life HERE.
